Therapeutic role
Osimertinib is used in selected EGFR-mutated NSCLC settings, including adjuvant therapy after resection, treatment following chemoradiation in unresectable stage III disease, first-line advanced disease and selected previously treated T790M-positive disease.
Mechanism
Osimertinib irreversibly inhibits selected mutant EGFR forms, including exon 19 deletion, L858R and T790M.

Tagrisso is the established reference brand. Generic products containing osimertinib should not be described as Tagrisso without evidence.
Safety
Important safety concerns include interstitial lung disease/pneumonitis, QTc prolongation, cardiomyopathy, keratitis and aplastic anemia.
